During his time at ICO, he served as Class Treasurer and was honored with the Eugene W. Strawn Award for Leadership and Service. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a respected and service-oriented career.

Faith has always been a central part of his life. He has held leadership roles in his church, served missionaries from various backgrounds, and is an active member of Brookside Baptist Church. His involvement includes serving as chairman of the Board of Deacons and participating in the church choir.
Outside of his professional and church commitments, Dr. Melchert enjoys supporting the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, reading, and visiting historical museums. He values time with his wife, five children, and grandchildren, often engaging in family activities whenever possible.
Dr. Melchert also serves as president of VCY America, a Christian broadcasting network, and supports the restoration of the historic Milwaukee Breakwater Lighthouse. Dr. Melchert continues to lead with quiet dedication, always focused on the well-being of his patients and community.
